Fencing player Rupali Sahu made a courtesy visit to the residence office of Sports Minister Shri Tank Ram Verma today. Rupali Sahu and Reeba Benni won silver medal for the Indian team in the Junior Commonwealth Fencing Competition held in Christchurch, New Zealand from 12 to 19 July 2024. The Sports Minister praised their excellent performance and said that the daughters of Chhattisgarh have not only brought pride to the state but also to the country. He said that a positive environment is being created for all sports disciplines in the state. All necessary facilities are being provided by upgrading the sports grounds.
        It is known that Rupali Sahu and Reeba Benni had applied for financial assistance from the Sports and Youth Welfare Department to go to New Zealand. Sports Director Mrs. Tanuja Salam had sent the case to the state government with the recommendation of financial assistance of Rs 4 lakh to these players Riba Benni and Rs 3.5 lakh to Rupali Sahu. Sports Secretary Mr. Himshikhar Gupta and Sports Minister Mr. Tank Ram Verma approved the proposal of the Sports Director. These players have worked very hard to perform better in fencing. Due to their better performance and skill in sports techniques, they were successful in getting silver medal at international level. Sports Director Mrs. Tanuja Salam wished these players a bright future and said that every possible effort is being made to promote the players of the state.
