Raipur, 05 March 2021. Culture Minister, Amarjit Bhagat inaugurated a two-day research seminar on the topic of the place-name, Chhattisgarh in the auditorium of Mahant Ghasidas Museum Raipur today. On this occasion, Minister Shri Bhagat stated the need to publish research papers received in such academic events in the form of a book, underlining the tradition of place-names of Surguja. Parliamentary Secretary Mr. Kunwar Singh Nishad, Chairman of the program, highlighted the interestingness of naming many important places in the state and the specialty of Chhattisgarhi cuisine.
On the first day of the seminar, 10 academic papers were read out in two academic sessions today, in which various places related to Bastar, Sarguja, Rajim, Korea, Bhoramdev, Khairagarh, Rajnandgaon, Dhamadha and Gariaband area, monuments, villages, cities by different scholars and researchers. Names, meanings, etymology, information contained in them were given. Aadhaar Statement K. Chakravarthy gave. Explaining the surnames held by the tribal groups of Surguja, he said that these include fauna and flora. He spoke of maintaining a balance between modern technology and ecology while working in the field of archeology and culture, so that tangible and intangible heritage can be saved from damage in modern development. Secretary of the Department of Culture, Mr. Anbalagan P. spoke on the importance of the subject of the seminar. Director Shri Vivek Acharya, while presenting the welcome address and the program, threw light on the objectives of the seminar. After the inaugural session, Dr. N. s. Sahu and Dr. Chittaranjan Kar lectured on the place names of Chhattisgarh. On this occasion, Acharya Ramendranath Mishra, Dr. R.K. N. Vishwakarma, Mr. Mir Ali Mir, Mr. Ashok Tiwari, Mr. G. L. Raikwar was present.
