Raipur, 17 June 2021. So far, claim amount of Rs 528 crore 41 lakh 37 thousand has been paid to 4 lakh 42 thousand farmers of the state under the Prime Minister’s crop insurance. This insurance claim amount has been made by farmers in lieu of insured crops in Kharif season 2020. It is worth mentioning that in Kharif season 2020, 13 lakh 95 thousand 143 farmers of the state had insured their Kharif crops, out of which 4 lakh 41 thousand 260 farmers have got an insurance claim of Rs 528 crore 41 lakh so far on the basis of reduction in actual yield. The amount has been paid. Some cases of crop insurance claim are still under process of payment.
According to the information received from the Agriculture Department, Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana is being implemented in Chhattisgarh by Agriculture Company of India Limited in 20 districts and Bajaj Allianz General Insurance Company in 8 districts. Out of the insurance claim amount paid to the farmers, Rs 491 crore 58 lakh 50 thousand has been paid by Agriculture Company of India Limited and Rs 36 crore 82 lakh 88 thousand has been paid by Bajaj Allianz General Insurance Company. It is to be mentioned here that area wise crops are notified for insurance of crops. Farmers get insurance of notified crops under the scheme. The claim payment to the farmers is given on the basis of reduction in threshold yield and actual yield obtained from harvesting experiment. The benefit of the insurance claim amount is mostly the farmers cultivating paddy and soybean, who could not get the actual production of paddy and soybean in Kharif 2020.
Under the crop insurance scheme, 149.24 crores to 97462 farmers of Rajnandgaon district, 65.55 crores to 38557 farmers of Mahasamund district, 28.83 crores to 31418 farmers of Balod, 12.77 crores to 19964 farmers of Balodabazar, 7.12 crores to 18741 farmers of Bastar, Bilaspur. 1.93 crores to 12815 farmers, 6.77 crores to 4954 farmers of Dantewada, 36.60 crores to 41138 farmers of Dhamtari, 12.21 crores to 18229 farmers of Durg, 7.29 crores to 7492 farmers of Gariaband, 13.11 crores to 21745 farmers of Janjgir-Champa, 13.11 crores of Kabirdham. 19.65 crores to 9338 farmers, 6.98 crores to 7907 farmers of Kondagaon, 89.57 lakhs to 1744 farmers of Korea, 99.79 lakhs to 4027 farmers of Raigarh, 4.05 crores to 22864 farmers of Raipur, 85.05 lakhs to 1815 farmers of Surguja, 39871 farmers of Kanker 87.38 crores to Bemetara, 25.71 crores to 10993 farmers, 12.99 crores to 7080 farmers of Korba, 3.28 crores to 4312 farmers of Mungeli, 18.57 crores to 5330 farmers of Sukma, 1.62 crores to 2962 farmers of Surajpur, 18.25 crores to 1094 farmers of Jashpur. Lakh, 5.24 lakh to 203 farmers of Balrampur, Gaure 2.63 crore has been paid to 6386 farmers of La-Pendra-Marwahi, Rs 1.22 crore to 1998 farmers of Bijapur and Rs 35.82 lakh to 521 farmers of Narayanpur district.
