Smt. Shubhangi Apte paid a courtesy call on Governor Shri Vishwabhushan Harichandan at Raj Bhavan today. On this occasion, Mrs. Apte informed the Governor about the plastic liberation campaign and the efforts being made by her towards environmental protection.
The Governor said that due to lack of awareness about the harmful effects of plastic, it is being used thoughtlessly. Plastic poses a serious threat to our environment. In the environment, its side effects also fall on wild and aquatic organisms. On many occasions, plastic is burnt in the open due to which many harmful gases are generated which have an effect on the respiratory system. To reduce the harmful effects of plastic, the Governor talked about limiting its use as well as adopting its alternative measures. Along with this, the need to make people aware on a large scale about its side effects is essential.
