The Rath Yatra of contractual workers, which has been going on for the last 40 days in the state, ended on Friday. This yatra reached Tuta in Nava Raipur. Employees from many districts have come here under the banner of Chhattisgarh All Departmental Contract Employees Association, contract employees working in all the departments of the state will join this movement. Their displeasure is with the Congress because even after four and a half years, the promise of regularization made in the public manifesto was not fulfilled. On May 16, the employees contacted other employees in 33 districts by taking out a contract regularization rath yatra from Shivri Narayan in Janjgir Champa. By handing over the memorandum to the collector and the MLA of 90 Vidhansabha, the people’s representative was asked to fulfill the demands. Slogans were raised against the administration. The office bearers associated with the organization announced an indefinite agitation here. About 45,000 contract workers will stop work on July 3 and start agitation. Alleging that the government is ignoring the demands of the union, Kaushalesh Tiwari, the state president of the federation, announced to go on an indefinite agitation from July 3. He told that it is undemocratic for the government to promise regularization to us contract employees in point number 11 of the 2018 election manifesto and not fulfilling the promise even after 4 years and 6 months of the government. Even after giving memorandum to many Congress MLAs and people’s representatives, we were not even contacted. Because of this, there is a lot of resentment among the employees, who will decide who will form the government.
Federation’s Provincial Provincial Vice President Vijay Yadav told that many big leaders of Congress made promises to us, which were not fulfilled. The contract workers will decide which party will form the government in Chhattisgarh in the 2024 elections. We have asked all Congressmen to be alert. Federation’s provincial spokesperson and media in-charge Suraj Singh Thakur said that we want to clearly tell the Congress that 45,000 contract workers are being forced to go on indefinite agitation. There is still a week’s time, taking into consideration our demands, regularization of contractual employees should be announced in the supplementary budget immediately.
