Raipur, 18 March 2021. Under the ambitious ‘Narva Vikas’ scheme of the state government, the Forest and Climate Change Department constructed the Pakar Ghat diversion in Bagbuda Nala located in Sonakhan range of Balodabazar forest division. Its construction is proving to be a boon for the farmers of Sonakhan Vananchal. People of about 15 villages have started benefiting from the Paakar Ghat diversion constructed under the Campa item at a cost of Rs 2 crore 58 lakh and irrigation facility has been made available on more than 9 thousand acres of agricultural land there.
The Chief Executive Officer of the Campa, Mr. V. Srinivasa Rao said that the Ghat diversion has been constructed in Bagbuda Nala, three kilometers from village Bharaka under Sonakhan enclosure in Vananchal, which is 27 meters in height and 5 meters in height. Due to its construction, the ground water level in the vicinity of Kasdol region has improved significantly. After the construction of diversion of Pakar Ghat, there was a filling of 3 lakh 31 thousand 100 cusec water in 5 hectare area up to 865 meters at the site, which was possible to be safe for irrigation and wildlife.
Apart from this, irrigation work was done through this diversion in about 3 thousand 200 acres of agricultural land in Kharif crop due to increased rainfall gap during the rainy season. In this regard, the Forest Officer, Balodabazar, Mr. K.R. The carpenter informed that the irrigation facility has been expanded in the villages of Malidih, Bamhni, Temri, Kosmasra, Semaria, Khurve, Kasdol, Dhaurabhatha, Pass, Nawapara, Narayanpur, Kharha and Chakarwai etc. in the Sonakhan forest zone from Pakar Ghat diversion. With this, irrigation facility will be available in 9 thousand 32 acres of agricultural land. Due to its construction there has been an increase in the reproduction of forests in the surrounding area.
