Raipur, 26 July 2021. During the rainy season, when the flow of water in the drains increases, life becomes disturbed in many areas. Whether it is to be involved in happiness or sorrow or to attend social events, to reach school or hospital, all kinds of activities come to a halt. Not only this, due to the obstruction in the traffic due to water logging in the drains, the work of farmers is also affected. In the rainy season, some similar problems were being faced by the people of Satosha village located in Bakwand development block of Bastar district and its surroundings. After years, now the villagers of the area have got relief from the construction of high level bridges from Jebel to Satosha Marg.
Two new bridges have been constructed by Chhattisgarh Rural Road Development Agency on the route from Jebel to Satosha Marg at a cost of about Rs 5 crore 37 lakh, which were inaugurated by Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel through video conferencing on June 21. Of these, one bridge has been constructed at a cost of about Rs 2 crore 60 lakh and the other bridge has been constructed at a cost of about Rs 2 crore 77 lakh. Satosha with a population of about four thousand is on the border of Odisha and Kondagaon district. Located in Bakwand development block of Bastar district, Satosha is divided into 22 Para-mohalla. The Satosha-Jebel access road is the easiest route for the villagers of this area to reach their development block and district headquarters. This pucca road was constructed under the Pradhan Mantri Gramin Sadak Yojana. Villagers said that along this route, very low height bridges were constructed in Joba Nala along the Markandi river, which the locals call Rapata. But due to water logging in these drains many problems arise. The villagers of this area are completely dependent on Bastar district for administrative work as well as facilities like education and health. Whether students studying in Bakwand and Jagdalpur for higher education or serious patients. They had to face many difficulties as the drain got filled in the rain. A few years ago, villagers who came to Jebel Bazar to collect goods tried to cross the drain filled due to heavy rains, in which a woman from Chhatori village in Kondagaon district and a young man from Chalanguda in Satosha died. The villagers expressed happiness that now there will be no problems due to the construction of bridges in these drains and the life of the villagers of the area will also be comfortable now. Villagers have also expressed their gratitude to Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel for giving the gift of this bridge before the rainy season.
