In-depth discussion regarding Ahriman-Kharang link project, Chapratola feeder reservoir and Rehar-Atem link project in CIDC board meeting
Raipur, 12 November 2020. After getting the in-principle consent of Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel, the Agriculture and Water Resources Minister Shri Ravindra Choubey, Forest, today, regarding the early start of the work of three important irrigation projects of the state, Ahiran-Kharang Link Project, Chapratola Feeder Reservoir and Rehar Atem Link Project. And in the special presence of Environment Minister Mohammad Akbar, the CIDC Board meeting was discussed. The meeting took place at the residence office of the Minister of Water Resources. In the meeting, the decision to conduct the work of Ahiran-Kharang Link Project, Chapra Tola Feeder Reservoir and Rehar Atem Link Project through CIDC was discussed along with survey and preparation of detailed action plan for the above three irrigation projects. Completion of these three projects will cost around Rs 2000 crore.
Water Resources Minister Shri Ravindra Choubey instructed the officials of Water Resources Department and CIDC to take necessary action for fast start of the work of the above three irrigation projects. Minister Choubey also directed to prepare their detailed action plan (DPR) and submit it to PFIC. In the meeting, financial approval was also discussed for the above three irrigation projects. Additional Chief Secretary Finance and Water Resources Shri Amitabh Jain, Principal Secretary Forest Mr. Manoj Pingua, Agriculture Production Commissioner Dr. M. Geeta, Secretary, Water Resources Department Mr. Avinash Champawat, Revenue Secretary Ms. Rita Shandilya, Managing Director of CIDC Mr. Anil Rai, Chief Engineer Water Resources Shri Jayant Pawar and other officials were present.
It was informed at the meeting that the Ahiran Khang Link Project is a drinking water project. The cost of which is Rs 720.52 crores. By constructing a dam on the river Ahiran near village Podi Gosai of Katghora development block in Korba district, the water stored there will go through pipelines to the Kherang reservoir. 31 million cubic meters from Municipal Corporation Bilaspur and 1 from Ratanpur city. 11 cubic meters of water will be provided for drinking water. Similarly, Rehar river of Sarguja district has to be connected with Hasdev river through Rehar-Atem link project. It is noteworthy that Rehar Barrage is under construction near Dedri village of Surajpur district. From where it is proposed to join the river Jink except through the water channel in the Bichhali Nala near village Parasapali. Construction of Chhapratola feeder reservoir is proposed near Chhaprapara village of Kota tehsil on Arpa river. Its cost is about 968 crores. The purpose of construction of Chhapratola feeder reservoir is to increase the means of livelihood of the villagers by conserving the river Arpa, promoting ground water in 22 villages and maintaining the environmental balance.
