Raipur, 13 May 2021. For the prevention of child marriage on the occasion of Akshaya Tritiya in the state, the Chhattisgarh government has instructed all departments, especially the revenue, panchayat, police and women child development department officials and field staff to remain alert and take action as soon as they get information. . The Ministry of Women and Child Development of the Government of Chhattisgarh has issued necessary guidelines in this regard to all the collectors of the state, Superintendents of Police, Women Child Development Department and all the concerned officials. Authorities have been asked to take necessary action to prevent child marriages.
According to the directive issued by Secretary, Women and Child Development Department, the gram panchayat-wise marriages should be reviewed in advance through the village level and block level child protection committee. On receiving the information about the organization of child marriage, firstly, to stop the marriage, it should be explained and if not, then legal action should be taken. Information about the Chief Minister Kanya Vivah Yojana should also be given to the people so that people are not encouraged to marry their children and children when they are attentive, so that they can get the benefit of the said scheme. Immediate action of prevention should be taken on receipt of oral or written information about child marriage in the police station by any means. For the prevention of child marriage, the cooperation of adolescent girls and adolescent girls groups should be compulsorily taken in prevention. Similarly, women self-help groups formed in districts should also be given the responsibility of prevention in child marriage.
In the letter issued by the Secretary, Department of Women and Child Development, it has been clearly mentioned that cases of child marriages have been found in some specific castes in the Action Plan prepared in earlier years for the prevention of child marriages. This year too, special attention should be given to prevention of child marriage in marital events of those specific castes. Marriage registers should be maintained in every village / gram panchayats. In which all the marriages that take place at the gram panchayat level should be registered. The responsibility of register maintenance can be assigned to the Panchayat Secretary / Anganwadi workers, so that the age of the bride and groom can be verified in each marriage.
For prevention of child marriages, in every village / panchayat, Munadhi should be made with respect to the lawful crime of child marriage. Information about child marriage through sarpanch of Gram Panchayat, Panchayat Secretary, village teacher, Kotwar, Anganwadi workers, Supervisor of Women and Child Development Department, Project Officer, Chief Executive Officer, Block Medical Officer, Subdivisional Officer Revenue or directly Collector or Police Be given to the superintendent.
