Chhattisgarh’s traditional festival ‘Pola and Teeja’ will be widely celebrated

Teej is a rich festival tradition in Chhattisgarh. The state government has not only started public holidays on the days of Hareli, Teeja, Mata Karma Jayanti, Chhath Puja and World Tribal Day in order to preserve and promote the culture of Chhattisgarh, but also to convey the importance of these folk festivals to the coming generation. To connect them, they are being celebrated with full enthusiasm with public participation. Efforts are being made by Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel to promote and preserve the culture of Chhattisgarh by connecting local festivals with public participation.
In this episode, preparations have been completed at the Chief Minister’s residence to celebrate the traditional festivals of Chhattisgarh, Pola and Teej on a large scale. Like Hareli festival, both these traditional festivals will be celebrated on a large scale at the residence of Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel in Raipur.
Special preparations have been made at the Chief Minister’s residence for the Pola and Teej festival and it is fully prepared to welcome the mothers and sisters celebrating Teej. The Chief Minister’s residence has been decorated according to the tradition and customs of Chhattisgarh. The first Pola festival will be organized at the Chief Minister’s residence. Nandi bull will be worshiped on this occasion, along with this Teeja festival will also be organized here. Teejaharin mothers and sisters from different places of the state have been invited to the Chief Minister’s residence for Teeja Mahotsav. On this occasion, sisters will complete the ritual of eating Karubhat and traditional games of Chhattisgarh will be organized.
Pora Tihar of Chhattisgarh is basically a festival related to farming. In view of the importance of bulls and bovine animals in farming, there is a tradition of expressing gratitude to them on this day. In the villages of Chhattisgarh, bullocks are specially decorated in this festival. He is worshipped. On this occasion, children play with Nandi bull and pottery toys made of clay. Dishes like typicali, khurmi, gudchila, gulgula, bhajiya are prepared in homes and the festival is celebrated. Bullock races are also organized on the occasion of this festival.
There is a special tradition of Teeja (Hartalika Teej) in Chhattisgarh, Teejharin women come to their maternal home from their in-laws to celebrate Teeja. To celebrate Teeja, daughters are brought by their father or brother from the in-laws’ house. The importance of Teeja festival is so much in Chhattisgarh that even elderly women are eager to come to their maternal home on this special occasion. For the longevity of their husbands, a day before the Teeja festival, women observe a Nirjala fast by consuming Karu Bhat. On the day of Teeja, a Shiva linga is made from sand, flowers are decorated with flowers, and women worship Shiva and Parvati after doing bhajans and kirtans throughout the night.
