Calling MPs, MLAs, mayors, urban bodies and panchayat representatives to create ‘malnutrition free Chhattisgarh’.
Raipur, 1 September 2020. Chief Minister Mr. Bhupesh Baghel has written a letter to the public representatives to provide active support in the National Nutrition Month starting from September 1. In the letter, he has called upon all MPs, MLAs, mayors, urban bodies and panchayat representatives of Chhattisgarh to give their valuable contribution for realizing the concept of malnutrition free Chhattisgarh. Appreciating the active support done by the people’s representatives in the past, he said that MLAs have always received active support to end the malnutrition and anemia prevalent among children in the state. In the past years, active support has been received from everyone even during the nutrition month event. Everyone’s active cooperation, coordination and full participation in the National Nutrition Month 2020 is expected.
Mr. Baghel said that malnutrition and anemia prevalent in children is a serious problem. With a view to bring down the level of malnutrition significantly, the nutrition campaign is being conducted from the year 2018. National nutrition month is being organized every year as a mass movement for wider publicity through awareness of nutrition, behavior change, communication and nutrition dialogue to the community. National Nutrition Month is to be celebrated throughout the state this year also from 01 September 2020 to 30 September 2020.
This year National Nutrition Month is to be celebrated as a digital mass movement along with other mediums as needed due to the state of global disaster created by the transition of Kovid-19. For this, virtual meeting, social media, mass media, print media have to be used on a large scale using technology and coordination. One of the major objectives of National Nutrition Month 2020 is early identification and reference of severely malnourished children. Breastfeeding as well as timely feeding of children is an important strategy for improving the survival of children. Prompt breastfeeding during nutrition month and complete breastfeeding up to 06 months are to be promoted. Encouraged planting of nutritious vegetables, fruitful plants in house enclosures, community enclosures, vacant lands during nutrition month, as well as building nutritious gardens on the roofs of houses in Anganwadi centers, school buildings, government buildings and urban areas. In order to materialize the concept of proper nutrition – Chhattisgarh Roshan during Nutrition Month in the state, active cooperation of all public representatives, representatives of three-tier Panchayati Raj institutions, representatives of urban bodies, regional staff and community is necessary.
