Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel has greeted and greeted the people of the state, especially the people of tribal society, on the World Tribal Day. In his message issued on the eve of World Tribal Day, the Chief Minister has said that 09 August is a great festival for the tribals all over the world including Chhattisgarh. Being a tribal dominated state, Chhattisgarh has inherited the invaluable heritage of the ancient art and culture of the tribes. The Government of Chhattisgarh is determined to save the ancient heritage and culture of the tribals and bring them into the mainstream. Efforts are being made that 31 percent of the tribal people living close to nature should have all the necessary civic facilities and all the means to move forward.
Shri Baghel said that keeping in mind the development and interest of the tribes, the state government has taken many important decisions. Return of 4200 acres of land to tribals in Lohandiguda, formation of committee to review the cases of tribals in jails, decision to improve the living standards of tribals with the money of District Mineral Trust, establishment of Staff Selection Board in Bastar and Surguja and here Efforts are on to do better work for the tribal society by appointment of local presidents in the tribal development authorities. He has said that the plans made keeping in mind the needs and expectations of the tribal society have made their life easier. To increase the collection rate of tendu patta from 2500 to 4 thousand rupees per standard bag, With the collection and sale of 65 types of minor forest produce at support prices, their processing and value addition at the local level has increased the income of thousands of tribals. The state government has strengthened the rights of the tribals on water, forest, land by effective implementation of the Forest Rights Act. The housing and livelihood concerns of thousands of tribals have been removed due to the availability of forest rights leases.
The Chief Minister said that the Chhattisgarh government is making constant efforts to give a new dimension to the cultural heritage of the tribals. In order to introduce tribal culture to the country and the world, events like National Tribal Dance Festival have been started in the state. World Tribal Day has been declared a general holiday. The work of saving and protecting the primitive life values is being done by the state government through the protection and promotion of Devgudis and Ghotuls. This has given people an opportunity to understand the traditions and cultures of the tribal society.
