Raipur: Chief Minister wishes Govardhan Puja and Gothan Day
Raipur, 25 October 2022
Chief Minister Shri Bhupesh Baghel has greeted the people of the state on the occasion of Govardhan Puja and Gauthan Diwas on October 26 and prayed for happiness, prosperity and prosperity of the state. In his congratulatory message, the Chief Minister has said that Govardhan Puja is a festival related to folk life. Govardhan Puja is performed on the second day of Diwali, it is known as Annakoot. In Chhattisgarh, there is a tradition of worshiping cows on this day. Cows are decorated, worshiped and fed khichdi and reverence and gratitude are shown for the priceless things in the form of cow dung.
The Chief Minister has said that the state government is trying to save cow dung and take its benefits to the people. Under the Suraji Gaon Yojana, these Gauthans are being developed in the state as multi-activity centres. Efforts have been made to connect animal husbandry with the economy, provide employment to the people and promote organic farming through Gauthans. An initiative has been taken to make vermi compost and other useful items by purchasing cow dung from the farmers. Apart from this, along with the security of the crop, farmers are also getting an opportunity to take double crop due to the formation of Gauthan. From this year onwards, we have also started procurement of cow urine, which is being used to make pesticides. Farmers and livestock owners have started getting the benefit of this. Shri Baghel said that like feeding khichdi in Govardhan Puja, we will be able to do cow-seva in true sense only by continuous participation in the arrangement of shade, fodder and water for the cows.
