Unique initiative to keep the urban environment pure and save trees of cultural importance

Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel will start the planting of cultural and life-useful trees in the Krishna-Kunj being developed at Telibandha in the capital Raipur on the occasion of Janmashtami. On the initiative of Mr. Baghel, ‘Krishna Kunj’ is being developed in all the urban areas of Chhattisgarh. On the occasion of Janmashtami, cultural importance like Banyan, Peepal, Kadamba and useful mangoes, tamarind, plum, Ganga tamarind, Jamun, Ganga ber, Mulberry, Tendu, Chironji, Pomegranate, Kaitha, Neem, Gular, Palas, Guava, Plantation of Sitaphal, Bel, Amla trees will be done.
The Chief Minister has directed all the collectors to allot at least one acre of land to the Forest Department for developing ‘Krishna-Kunj’. So far 162 places in the state have been identified for ‘Krishna Kunj’. Preparations for plantation are also being done with great enthusiasm. From this Krishna Janmashtami, planting of trees will be started in the entire state at the site marked for ‘Krishna Kunj’. To give a unique identity to Krishna Kunj, the design of the logo on the boundary wall gate has been prepared uniformly by the Forest Department to show uniformity in all the bodies.
Regarding the objectives of ‘Krishna-Kunj’ scheme, Chief Minister Mr. Baghel has said that, “It has been named ‘Krishna-Kunj’ to connect tree plantation with people, to save its cultural heritage and to give them a unique identity. Due to the indiscriminate felling of trees due to urbanization in the last years, the existence of these trees is ending. The initiative of ‘Krishna-Kunj’ is being taken to connect the coming generations with the importance of these trees.
Site has been selected for Krishna-Kunj in 10 urban bodies of Raipur district Kurra, Kharora, Birgaon, Attari, Telibandha, Arang, Chandkhuri, Kurud Samoda, Urla. Plantation of plants on Janmashtami in total 162 selected sites with 3 of Mahasamund in Gariaband district, 2 of Gourela Pendra district, 7 of Koriya district, 3 of Kondagaon district, 4 of Dantewada district, 1-1 of Bijapur district, Sukma, Narayanpur Planting will be done.
Full of cultural diversity, every festival of Chhattisgarh is associated with nature and primitive culture. For their conservation, the Teej-festivals here were connected with the common people and now an exemplary initiative is being taken to save these trees of cultural importance through the ‘Krishna-Kunj’ scheme. Which will lead the coming generations towards a better tomorrow and play its role in building a new Chhattisgarh.
