Chief Minister Shri Vishnudev Sai today attended the closing ceremony of Marka Pandum (Chaitarai Mahaparva) organized by Gondwana Samaj in village Bhirawahi of Kanker. He offered Tendu, Char, Chironji, Mahua and Mango fruits after worshipping the deities of Gondwana Samaj, Budhadev and Anga Dev and prayed for the prosperity of the people of the state.

Chief Minister Shri Sai, while addressing the closing ceremony of Marka Pandum organized in Gondwana Bhavan premises of Bhirawah, said that Gondwana society has a rich history. There is a tradition of offering new fruits and crops to the deities in Marka Pandum festival. He further said that we need to take our culture and tradition forward. Chief Minister Shri Sai, while emphasizing on educating the society, emphasized on everyone coming forward and being aware to educate the children.

The Chief Minister further said that Chhattisgarh has developed rapidly in the last 25 years. PM Janman Yojana has led to the rapid development of the special backward tribes, while talented children are getting the opportunity to progress in Prayas Residential School. High institutions like IIM, IIT, Triple IT have been established in Chhattisgarh.

Chief Minister Shri Sai said that with the support of the Central Government, the State Government is working to root out Naxalism from Bastar. He said that the resolution of Union Home Minister Shri Amit Shah to root out Naxalism will definitely be fulfilled in the coming one year. He said that now the scope of the Niyyad Nellnar scheme is being expanded so that more and more villagers of the Naxal-affected area can get the benefit of the government schemes.

On this occasion, on the demand of the representatives of the Gondwana community, the Chief Minister announced various development and construction works worth Rs 80 lakh 48 thousand, which includes approval of Rs 45 lakh for the renovation of the Gondwana community building, Rs 23 lakh 47 thousand for construction of boundary wall and Rs 12 lakh 01 thousand for the beautification of Devgudi and various works.

Addressing the closing ceremony, Kanker MLA Shri Asharam Netam said that it is a matter of pride that a well-wisher of the tribal society, the Chief Minister is leading the entire state. He further said that the tribals should not forget their rich culture, tradition and heritage, because this is our root and real identity.

During this, Divisional President of Bastar Gondwana Samaj, Mr. Sumer Singh Nag apprised the Chief Minister about the social activities. MP of Kanker Lok Sabha constituency Mr. Bhojraj Nag, Antagarh MLA Mr. Vikram Usendi, Bhanupratappur MLA Mrs. Savitri Mandavi, Chairman of Nagar Palika Kanker Mr. Arun Kaushik, District Panchayat Chairperson Mrs. Kiran Nareti, former MP Mr. Mohan Mandavi, former MLA Mr. Shishupal Sori, Mrs. Sumitra Markole, Collector Mr. Nilesh Kumar Mahadev Kshirsagar, SSP Mr. Indira Kalyan Elesela and other dignitaries were present in the program.
