Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Dev Sai has paid tributes to freedom fighter Punjab Kesari Lala Lajpat Rai on his birth anniversary on 28 January. Chief Minister Shri Sai said that Lala Lajpat Rai’s life is a symbol of dedication, sacrifice and struggle for the country. He played an important role in the Indian National Movement and raised his voice against the British Empire. Chief Minister Shri Sai, recalling Lala Lajpat Rai’s incomparable contribution in the freedom struggle, said that Lala ji did not care even about his life while fighting for independence. Lala ji had said ‘Every lathi that falls on my body will act as a nail in the coffin of the British government’. Shri Sai said that what Lala ji said proved to be true and his martyrdom gave a new direction to the freedom struggle. Chief Minister Shri Sai said that Lala Lajpat Rai’s sacrifice for the country will always inspire us to work for the progress of the country.
