To hone the natural archery talent of the Pahari Korwa people, we will expand the Archery Academy in Jashpur area

Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Dev Sai has been elected as the new President of Chhattisgarh State Archery Association. Chief Minister Shri Sai was unanimously elected as the President in the general body meeting of the association held today at the Chief Minister’s residence.
On this occasion, the Chief Minister said that today it is a matter of pride for me personally, you people unanimously elected me as the President of Chhattisgarh State Archery Association. I am heartily grateful to all of you for this. The Chief Minister said that I got the opportunity to participate in many events of this association. I also got the opportunity to participate in events with the President of National Archery Association, Shri Arjun Munda ji. He said that the Archery Association has honed the talent of Chhattisgarh’s archers with great skill and hard work, due to which our players have won medals by performing brilliantly in many competitions including the national level.
Chief Minister Shri Sai said that I myself have joined this association, with the support and guidance of all, we will take the work of the Archery Association forward in a better way. He said that I myself come from the tribal-dominated Jashpur region. In childhood, we also used to hunt with bow and arrow. Archery is the favorite sport of all of us, especially the tribes. The special backward tribe Pahadi Korwa resides in Jashpur district. These people are great archers, in ancient times Pahadi Korwa used to hunt with bow and arrow. Even today, there are three bows in every house. Shri Sai said that efforts should be made to hone the natural talent of archery of these people. Currently, there are three archery academies in the state. We will expand the archery academy in Jashpur district as well.
The Chief Minister said that the state government is committed to the development of sports in the state. Every possible effort will be made by the government to hone sports talent. He said that the state government has announced a reward of Rs 3 crore to the player from Chhattisgarh who wins gold medal in the Olympics, Rs 2 crore to the player who wins silver medal and Rs 1 crore to the player from Chhattisgarh who wins bronze medal. Whatever is necessary for the development of sports will be done. Our Chhattisgarh players should also bring glory to the state in the field of archery.
On this occasion, Secretary to the Chief Minister, Mr. Rahul Bhagat, President of Chhattisgarh Badminton Association, Mr. Vikram Sisodia, along with the newly elected office bearers of Chhattisgarh State Archery Association, Vice President Mr. Bharat Matiara, Mr. Ramlakhan Paikra, Mr. Deepesh Arora, along with many other officials, observers Mr. Akram Khan, Sumanta Chandra Mohanty, Pravesh Joshi, members and medal winning players in archery were present.
