DA of government employees increased by four percent, pensioners will also benefit

A committee will be formed under the chairmanship of the Home Secretary to provide justice in cases of alleged false cases and harassment against journalists.

Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Dev Sai today took five important decisions in the interest of officers, employees and media persons. These also include giving four percent dearness allowance to officers and employees on the seventh pay scale. Pensioners will also benefit from this. This amount of dearness allowance will be available from March 1, 2024. The officers and employees of the state will also be paid the amount of the last installment of arrears of the seventh pay scale. Along with this, the Chief Minister has also formed a committee under the chairmanship of Principal Secretary, Panchayat and Rural Development, Mrs. Niharika Barik, which will review the problems of the employees and present suggestions to the government regarding their resolution. Giving relief to Gram Panchayat Secretaries, it has also been decided to pay their salaries for the 55 days of strike period. This strike period will be adjusted in the earned leave. These decisions will add more colors of happiness to the families of employees during the festival of Holi.
Now the dearness allowance has increased to 46 percent.
Announcing the increase in dearness allowance, the Chief Minister said that it has been decided to increase the dearness allowance of the state employees by 04 percent in the seventh pay scale and the dearness relief of pensioners by 04 percent. This dearness allowance and dearness relief will be given from March 1, 2024. As a result, the rate of dearness allowance and dearness relief will increase from 42 percent to 46 percent in the seventh pay scale and it will increase to 230 percent in the sixth pay scale. This decision will benefit 3 lakh 90 thousand employees and 1 lakh 20 thousand pensioners of the state. With this decision, state employees and pensioners will get a benefit of Rs 68 crore per month and Rs 816 crore in a year.
On this occasion, the Chief Minister also
announced to provide the last installment of arrears of seventh pay scale to the officers and employees.
Panchayat Secretaries will get salary for the strike period.
Taking a sensitive decision today, the Chief Minister also gave relief to Gram Panchayat Secretaries. Last year, the Gram Panchayat Secretary was on strike for a total of 55 days from 16 March 2023 to 9 May 2023.
The Chief Minister said that 55 days salary will be paid to Gram Panchayat Secretaries by adjusting their strike period in their earned leave. This decision will entail an expenditure of Rs 70 crore on the state government.
Committee formed on the problems of employees:
The Chief Minister said that the employee brothers have shared their views with us regarding many demands and problems. We will solve their problems with full sensitivity. He said that to solve these problems, a five-member committee has been formed under the chairmanship of Principal Secretary, Panchayat and Rural Development, Mrs. Niharika Barik. The committee will discuss with the representatives of various employee unions and give appropriate suggestions to the government in the interest of the employees. Apart from the Chairman, in this committee, Principal Secretary Law and Legislative, Secretary General Administration Department, Secretary Finance will be the members and Secretary General Administration Department (Government Employees Welfare Branch) will be the member secretary.
A committee will be formed under the chairmanship of the Home Secretary to provide justice to the journalists.
The Chief Minister said that many complaints of harassment had come forward against journalists and friends associated with the media world. In this regard, we announce the formation of a committee under the chairmanship of the Home Secretary. The Chief Minister further said that other members including journalists will also be appointed in this committee.
