Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Dev Sai, Union Jal Shakti Minister Shri CR Patel today inspected the plastic waste management unit run by women’s groups in the rural industrial park of Amlidih village in Rajnandgaon district. He appreciated the efforts of women’s groups towards environmental protection by recycling plastic waste. On this occasion, Deputy Chief Minister and Home Minister Shri Vijay Sharma, former MP Shri Pradeep Gandhi, former District Panchayat President Shri Dinesh Gandhi and other public representatives were present.

 Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Dev Sai, while talking to the women’s group, said that this effort of all of you is an exemplary effort towards environmental protection and promotion in the state and the country. He said that through this we will be able to reduce the damage to the environment by recycling plastic waste. He said that the women’s group has done remarkable work for environmental protection along with achieving employment and self-reliance through its special efforts.  

On this occasion, Union Jal Shakti Minister Shri C.R. Patil said that women are making significant contributions to the country’s development with their skills and hard work in many fields. Women’s groups are rapidly moving forward towards employment and self-reliance with self-respect. He said that plastic waste pollutes soil, water and air. This is affecting the health of animals. He said that the initiative taken by the women’s group to recycle plastic waste will prove effective in protecting the environment.

It is noteworthy that Mahatma Gandhi Rural Industrial Park is operated in Amlidih Gram Panchayat of Dongargaon. Here, plastic waste from Arjuni, Konari and Amlidih cluster and surrounding Gram Panchayats is collected by Swachhata Didi. Plastic waste is brought here by the women groups of the cluster, sorted and recycled to make plastic gatta, plastic granule and plastic PP. Plastic gatta is sent to Raipur. Plastic twine, gutkha box, plastic chair, plastic drum and other plastic products are made from plastic gatta. Establishment of Plastic Waste Management Unit will help a lot in making the area plastic free. Along with this, women groups will also get employment. This unit will definitely make the concept of plastic free village a reality. Collector Mr. Sanjay Agarwal, Superintendent of Police Mr. Mohit Garg and other officers of the district administration were present on this occasion.
