Chief Minister Shri Bhupesh Baghel reached Mahadev Ghat in Raipur in the morning on the occasion of Kartik Punni and prayed for the happiness and prosperity of the people of the state by taking a Kartik Purnima bath in Kharun river. On this occasion, the Chief Minister congratulated and extended best wishes to all the people of the state on the occasion of Kartik Punni Mela.
On this occasion, he said that religious, cultural and social tradition is being followed here. On the occasion of Punni Mela, people from all the surrounding villages come here today. Punni Mela is our ancient tradition, part of the tradition of our villages and cities of Chhattisgarh. There has been a tradition of bathing in the morning and offering water to Shiva in the month of Kartik, from today onwards the fair starts in the ghats of the villages. He said that today is also the auspicious day of Prakash Parv, birth anniversary of Guru Nanak ji, who has an old relationship with Chhattisgarh, we have decided to develop Garhphuljhar in Mahasamund district as a tourist destination.
Chief Minister Shri Baghel said that the development of Kharun river Ghat was announced last year, now with the provision in the budget, the work of development of Ghat will start. In our state, the farmer brothers have started harvesting paddy. The procurement of paddy has also started from November 1, the farmers are selling paddy in support price and they are also getting payment on time. Before Diwali, we have also given the third installment of Rajiv Gandhi Kisan Nyay Yojana.
He said that in order to save the culture and tradition of Chhattisgarh, recently we have also organized National Tribal Dance Festival on the occasion of Rajyotsava. We are constantly working for the preservation and development of our culture along with education, health and employment. In which there is participation of the people of the state.
Parliamentary Secretary Shri Vikas Upadhyay, Chairman of Gau Seva Commission Mahant Shri Ram Sundar Das, Advisor to Chief Minister Shri Pradeep Sharma, Mayor of Raipur Municipal Corporation Shri Ejaz Dhebar and other public representatives and a large number of devotees were present on the occasion.
