Inspection of fodder and safety of cattle

Discussed with members of women’s groups and Vihaan, fed fodder to Gowmata with their hands, better efforts should be made to increase the value of products and forest produce: Chief Minister

Raipur, 04 January 2021. Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel today inspected the Gauthan built under Narva, Garwa, Ghuaruwa Bari, an ambitious scheme of governance in village Mohra of Kartala tehsil during his two-day stay in Korba district. He inspected the available fodder and safety arrangements for cattle in Gowthan. The Chief Minister inquired about various products made from cow dung by women self-help groups in Gothan. He got information about the method of making cow dung, pottery, diy etc. products made from cow dung and praised it. Chief Minister Mr. Baghel fed Gaumata with his hands and took his blessings. Chief Minister Mr. Baghel also visited the pavilions decorated by women groups in the Gauthan campus. He discussed the women present and at his request, instructed the collector to provide other means of livelihood in Gauthan. Built at a cost of about 26 lakh rupees, this Gothan has a good system of conservation of cattle including fodder, water, shed, treatment. About 375 cattle are kept in Gauthan. He also inspected pastures and fences on 7 acres planted by the women self-help groups for Gothan.

During the discussion with Chief Minister Mr. Baghel, members of Hare Krishna Self Help Group informed that vermicompost compost is also being prepared by purchasing cow dung in Gauthan. He informed that 165 quintal vermicompost has been prepared and 165 quintal fertilizer has been sold so far. Chief Minister Mr. Baghel agreed to the demand of 5 sewing machines for livelihood enhancement by the members of the group. On this occasion, a check of Rs 10 thousand 150 was also given to the Pooja Self Help Group associated with the Kosa threading work. During this, the villager Mr. Hirasayya, who was present there, told the Chief Minister Mr. Baghel that he has earned an income of about Rs. 13 thousand by selling cow dung under the Godhan Nyaya Yojana in the last 4 months. He thanked Chief Minister Mr. Baghel for this scheme and said that this is a welfare scheme for the poor.
Talking to the Chief Minister Mr. Baghel, the women associated with the poultry business told that about 300 chickens have been reared and 30 native chickens of Kalinga brown species have also been kept. When asked about the price of eggs by the Chief Minister, the members informed that eggs are being sold at the rate of Rs. 10 per piece. Mr. Baghel talked about increasing the production of eggs and supplying it to the Anganwadi in the district so that the government can help in the fight against malnutrition.

 

In the stall set up by the Forest and Climate Change Department in the Gauthan campus, the women of self-help groups presented herbal baskhadi baskets to the Chief Minister and informed that 18 types of licensed medicinal plants are made by the group, including Triphala, Diabetic, Herbal Coffee Products like. Chief Minister Mr. Baghel spoke to the officers of the Forest Department present there to increase value by processing more and more forest produce so as to increase the income of women associated with the group.
Dung lamps made by women in Gauthan and statue of Ganesha were also presented. On this occasion, District Collector Ms. Kiran Kaushal, SP Mr. Abhishek Meena, District Panchayat CEO Mr. Kundan Kumar, Forest Department officials and local public representatives and dignitaries were present.
