Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Dev Sai has paid his respects to the great litterateur Bharatendu Harishchandra, who is considered the father of modern Hindi literature, on his birth anniversary on September 9. Shri Sai, while recalling the invaluable contribution of Bharatendu Harishchandra to the country’s interest and Hindi literature, said that Bharatendu ji was a man of multi-faceted talent. He was an excellent poet, powerful satirist, successful dramatist, aware journalist and a powerful prose writer of the modern era of Hindi literature. Apart from this, he was also an editor and a skilled speaker. Bharatendu ji, famous as the pioneer of Indian renaissance, raised his voice against the country’s poverty, conservatism, subjugation and inhuman exploitation by the rulers through his literature. Along with this, he had a major contribution in establishing Hindi as the national language. He established the simple form of Khari Boli in prose. His literature awakened love for their language and culture in the people. Shri Sai said that Bharatendu ji’s contribution in the field of literature is unforgettable.
