Raipur: Chief Minister released the tribal atlas of Chhattisgarh: Chhattisgarh became the third state in the country after Odisha and Jharkhand to release the tribal atlas

Raipur, 09 August 2021. On the occasion of World Tribal Day, Chief Minister Shri Bhupesh Baghel released the Tribal Atlas prepared by Tribal Research and Training Institute (TRI) in an virtual program organized at his residence today.
It is worth mentioning that Chhattisgarh has become the third state in the country after Odisha and Jharkhand to prepare the Tribal Atlas. In this Tribal Atlas, information about the culture, customs, dialects of the tribes of the state, tribal art and crafts, Teej-festival, dance, tribal tourism, special backward tribes of the state as well as scheduled areas of the state, tribal sub-plan areas, Information about basic educational institutions like Tribal Ashram Schools/Hostels, Eklavya Model Residential School, Prayas Vidyalaya, administrative units in the state, community wise tribal population, sex ratio, educational status and health facilities available in the state have been included. On this occasion, Home Minister Shri Tamradhwaj Sahu, Food Minister Shri Amarjit Bhagat, Scheduled Castes and Tribes Development Minister Dr. Premsai Singh Tekam, Forest Minister Shri Mohammad Akbar, were present at the Chief Minister’s residence.
In the atlas, a brief description of 42 tribes of the state has been done through district wise habitat outline inset map. Along with the habitat outline, information about the tribal, forest area and various conditions has been presented district wise. It is made by chips. Block wise, ITDP, MADA and clusters are displayed through maps and tables in the atlas.
The atlas also includes the basic survey of special backward tribes conducted by the Census 2011 Institute and information from the Tribal and Scheduled Castes Development Department.
It is noteworthy that the editing of all the above booklets has been done under the guidance of the Director of Tribal Research and Training Institute and the Commissioner of Tribal Department, Mrs. Shammi Abidi. Mr. G.R. A presentation was made by Mr. Ishwar Sahu, Mrs. Deepa Sain, Ms. Ankita Kunjam, Mr. Amardas, Mr. Nirmal Baghel and Mr. Yogendra Nishad under the guidance of Shori Deputy Director, Dr. Anil Virulkar.
Apart from this, the work of English translation of photo handbooks related to Baiga, Gond, Agaria, Kanwar and Halba tribes was done by retired Head of Department of English, Modern and European Languages ​​Department of Lucknow University and Senior Professor Language and Dean Department of Integral University Lucknow Dr. S.Z. In collaboration with H. Abidi.
