Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel paid homage to the famous freedom fighter of Chhattisgarh late Vaman Baliram Lakhe by paying floral tributes on his photo on his birth anniversary at the Chief Minister’s residence today. Urban Administration and Development Minister Dr. Shivkumar Dahria was also present on this occasion.
It is worth mentioning that late Pandit Vamanrao Lakhe continued to work throughout his life for the economic strength of farmers and the strengthening of cooperative organizations. He is known as the father of cooperatives in Chhattisgarh. Due to his efforts, the first co-operative bank was established in Raipur. Today lakhs of farmers in the state are getting the benefit of their efforts made in the field of cooperatives. Lakhe ji also played an important role in public awareness during the freedom struggle in Chhattisgarh and led many movements. He laid the foundation of journalism here by publishing the first monthly magazine of Chhattisgarh.
