Raipur, 21 February 2022. Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel has paid homage to the dreamer, freedom fighter and agricultural leader of Chhattisgarh state, Late Dr. Khubchand Baghel, on his death anniversary on February 22, while paying humble tributes to him.
The Chief Minister has said in his message that Dr. Khubchand Baghel has dedicated his entire life for the welfare of the society and farmers. He played an important role in social movements including education, cooperatives. The Chief Minister has said that Dr. Khubchand Baghel was not only a dreamer of Chhattisgarh but also a symbol of self-respect of Chhattisgarh. He wanted Chhattisgarhi to live with self-respect, to be self-supporting and to develop in all spheres of life. He was also strongly in favor of promoting Chhattisgarhi culture. He struggled throughout his life against the identity and social evils of Chhattisgarh. His contribution in the struggle for the creation of Chhattisgarh state cannot be forgotten.
Shri Baghel said that during the Indian freedom struggle, Khubchand ji did an important job of awakening the national consciousness in Chhattisgarh. He also did remarkable service to the region as an MLA and Rajya Sabha MP. The Chief Minister said that according to the dreams of Khubchand ji, we are building Nava-Chhattisgarh. Showing respect for his creativity and personality, Dr. Khubchand Baghel Swasthya Sahayata Yojana has been started in the medical field, under which free treatment up to Rs. 5 lakh is being provided to the patients. The Government of Chhattisgarh has instituted Dr. Khubchand Baghel Samman in his memory to encourage significant achievement and research in the field of agriculture. Mr. Baghel said that we are satisfied that Chhattisgarh is progressing in the direction of realizing Dr. Baghel’s dream of revival of rural economy.
