Chief Minister Shri Bhupesh Baghel has paid tribute to the famous litterateur, linguist and creator of Chhattisgarh state song, late Dr. Narendra Dev Verma, on his death anniversary on 8th September. Recalling Dr. Verma’s invaluable contribution to literature, the Chief Minister said that Dr. Narendra Dev played an important role in creating the cultural identity of Chhattisgarh through his works. Whatever he wrote reached into the conscience of the people. He has given an immortal composition in the form of ‘Arpa-Pyari ke Dhar, Mahanadi O Apar…’, in which the grandeur of Chhattisgarh Mahatari has come true. This song that came from his pen has today become a symbol of self-respect of Chhattisgarh.

Mr. Baghel said that Dr. Narendra Dev made full use of his creative ability in giving a unique identity to the Chhattisgarhi language and culture. In his works, there is a vivid depiction of the life and culture of Chhattisgarh. When his Hindi novel ‘Subah Ki Talaash’, after being translated into Chhattisgarhi as ‘Sonha Bihan’, reached the people through theater, it gave hope to the common people for the realization of the golden morning. In the true sense, he was the dreamer of Sonha Bihan of Chhattisgarh. The contribution of Dr. Narendra Dev Verma, the son of the soil, who gave a new dimension to the glory and culture of Chhattisgarh Mahtari through his writings, will always be remembered.
