Chief Minister Mr. Bhupesh Baghel has paid tribute to the forerunner and thinker of Indian socio-religious renaissance, Raja Ram Mohan Roy, on his birth anniversary on May 22. In his message, the Chief Minister has said that Raja Ram Mohan Roy is known for his vocal opposition to the stereotypes and social evils of the Indian society and remarkable reforms. He opposed the evils like sati practice, child marriage, polygamy prevalent in the society and succeeded in stopping it to a great extent. He emphasized on educating women to improve their condition in the society. Mr. Baghel said that bad habits become a hindrance in development. A moderate approach like Raja Ram Mohan Roy is needed to take the country and the society forward.
