Chief Minister Mr. Bhupesh Baghel paid tribute to former minister and popular leader late Mr. Mahendra Karma on his birth anniversary by offering flowers on his photograph at his residence office here today. Member of Parliament Mr. Deepak Baij and Advisor to Chief Minister Mr. Rajesh Tiwari were also present on the occasion.
Remembering him, the Chief Minister said that as the Leader of the Opposition in the Chhattisgarh Legislative Assembly and as a minister, Mahendra Karma ji assumed important responsibilities and made invaluable contributions to the development of Chhattisgarh. He was not just a politician, but also a very sensitive, aware and passionate human being. Karma ji used to speak strongly in every fight for the rights of tribals, hence he was also known as Bastar Tiger. I am fortunate to have a selfless person and good friend like him. Karma ji fought for the betterment of the tribals till the last moment of his life. Chhattisgarh will not be able to forget his martyrdom in the Jhiram Ghati Naxal attack.
Chief Minister Mr. Baghel said that in order to make the memory of Mr. Karma everlasting, the state government named Bastar University after him and a social security scheme has been started for Tendupatta collector families of the state in his name. He said that Karma ji’s thoughts and life values will always inspire us.
