Raipur: Chief Minister paid tribute to Mahatma Jyotiba Phule on his birth anniversary

Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Dev Sai has paid tribute to social reformer, thinker, writer and philosopher Mahatma Jyotiba Phule on his birth anniversary on April 11. Shri Sai has said that Jyotiba Phule did many works for the upliftment of women and Dalits. Mahatma Phule founded Satyashodhak Samaj to end discrimination against Dalits and give them a place in the society. He not only promoted women education, but also got his wife Savitribai Phule educated, due to which she became the first teacher of India.

Mr Sai said that Mahatma Phule wanted to free the society from superstitions and bad practices. He was a strong opponent of the caste system prevalent in Indian society and the discrimination based on it. He stressed on education of all sections to free the society from evils. The Chief Minister said that the life and thoughts of Mahatma Jyotiba Phule will continue to inspire us to serve humanity.
