Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Dev Sai has paid tribute to the immortal martyr Gand Singh, who sacrificed his life for the freedom of Chhattisgarh, on his martyrdom day on 20th January. Remembering Amar Shaheed Gaind Singh, Shri Sai said that he was the landlord of Paralkot, a brave, intelligent and just person. He had raised his voice against the slavery and exploitation of the British long before the country’s first war of independence in 1857. Martyr Gand Singh ji, the leader who fought for the rights of Abujhmadia brothers and sisters of Bastar, was hanged in front of the palace of Paralkot on 20 January 1825. Gand Singh was martyred to protect his self-respect and motherland. The Chief Minister said that the patriotism and indomitable bravery and sacrifice of Paralkot liberation movement leader Gand Singh ji for the liberation of the motherland will always be remembered.
