Approval of the draft of Chhattisgarh Media Personnel Security Bill-2023 in the Council of Ministers meeting

In the meeting of the Council of Ministers chaired by Chief Minister Mr. Bhupesh Baghel today, the draft of the Chhattisgarh Media Personnel Security Bill-2023 has been approved for the safety of journalists. Expressing gratitude to the Chief Minister, Mr. Damu Ambedare, President of Raipur Press Club, on behalf of the journalists of the entire state, said that the Chief Minister has considered the security law respecting the sentiments of the media persons with sensitivity. Important steps have been taken towards implementation. With this, the media colleagues will be able to perform their duty in the public interest with more enthusiasm.
Mr. Damu Ambedare said that Chief Minister Mr. Baghel has formed a committee to frame a law for the safety of journalists. The security bill was drafted and now by approving it on priority in the cabinet meeting, the years-old demand of the media personnel of Chhattisgarh has been fulfilled.
He said that the Chief Minister Mr. Bhupesh Baghel is very sensitive to every demand for the welfare of journalists. Along with increasing the scope of preferential treatment in the interest of journalists, he has shown goodwill towards media persons by bringing simplicity in the rules. The Chief Minister has increased the Patrakar Samman Nidhi from Rs 5,000 to Rs 10,000 per month. Along with this, a provision has been made in the budget to start Journalist House Construction Grant Scheme, for which a provision of Rs 50 lakh has been made.
