Chief Minister Mr. Bhupesh Baghel has written a letter to the Union Finance Minister Smt. Nirmala Sitharaman regarding exemption from additional burden of 12 percent GST on the rent of students living in rooms and hostels as paying guests by the GST Authority. The Chief Minister has written in this letter that with the recent order of 12 percent GST payment by the GST Advance Decision Authority, it will be extremely difficult for poor and lower middle class parents to bear the additional burden of 12 percent GST, because already the poor and The lower class is suffering from the brunt of inflation.
Chief Minister Mr. Baghel has said in a letter to Finance Minister Sitharaman that due to this decision of the Authority, it is also possible that many poor talented students may be forced to return to their native places. The Chief Minister has requested the Finance Minister to intervene at the level of the Central Government and free the students living in hostels from the additional burden of 12 percent GST as before and direct the concerned authorities for the same.
