Letter written on receiving information about non-inclusion of Bilaspur in Udaan-5 scheme by the Center
For the purpose of starting regular air service at Bilaspur Airport, Rs 45 crore was spent from the state budget on the provision of terminal building, runway expansion, security equipment.

Chief Minister Mr. Bhupesh Baghel has written a letter to the Civil Aviation Minister, Government of India, Mr. Jyotiraditya M. Scindia, requesting him to take immediate action to add Chhattisgarh’s Bilaspur city to the UDAN-5 scheme. So that the people of the region get the facility to travel to other parts of the country and help in the economic development of the region.
The Chief Minister has written in the letter that information has been received that the Union Ministry of Civil Aviation has not included Bilaspur city in the UDAN-5 scheme. Disappointment and anger is prevailing among the people of Bilaspur zone due to this decision of the central government. Mr. Baghel has mentioned in the letter that Bilaspur is the second important city of the state. Due to the high court of the state being situated in Bilaspur, it is very necessary to provide regular air service facility here.
The Chief Minister has also written in the letter that the D.G.C.A. And for the purpose of starting regular air service at Bilaspur Airport in consultation with the Union Ministry of Aviation, Rs 45 crore has been spent from the state budget to ensure arrangements for terminal building, runway expansion, arrangement of security equipment etc.
With the tireless efforts of the state government, Bilaspur was connected to the country’s air link and air services were started from there to Jabalpur, New Delhi, Prayagraj, Indore etc. The number of passengers in all the flights coming and going to Bilaspur was encouraging, but due to unknown reasons later the flight service to Indore was stopped.
In a letter, Chief Minister Mr. Baghel has requested Civil Aviation Minister Mr. Scindia to take immediate action to add Bilaspur city of Chhattisgarh to the Udaan-5 scheme so that the people of the region get the facility to move to other parts of the country Help in economic development.
