“‘Chhattisgarh Mahtari’ is a symbol of Chhattisgarh’s identity, self-respect, and reverence”: Chief Minister Mr. Bhupesh Baghel
Raipur, 9 June 2023, Chief Minister Mr.Bhupesh Baghel unveiled the statue of ‘Chhattisgarh Mahtari’ at the Kawardha Collector office premises and paid floral tributes to the revered figure. The statue of ‘Chhattisgarh Mahtari’ serves as a symbol of Chhattisgarh’s identity, self-respect, and reverence. Mr. Baghel emphasised the importance of cultural awareness and announced the installation of ‘Chhattisgarh Mahatari’ statues in all districts. He expressed a desire for future generations to have ample opportunities to learn and appreciate the festivals and folk traditions of Chhattisgarh.
Chief Minister Mr. Baghel emphasised the Chhattisgarh Government’s commitment to preserving and promoting the state’s rich cultural heritage. The state government has taken initiatives to celebrate various traditional festivals (Tihars) such as Teeja-Pora, Akti, Hareli, and Chherchera on a grand scale. The state government has also gained national recognition for initiatives like the National Tribal Dance Festival, the rejuvenation of tribal religious places like Devgudi, and Adivasi Parab Samman Nidhi, which aim to preserve and respect the tribal culture. Bore-Basi has gained recognition not only within India but also internationally. These efforts reflect the state government’s dedication to preserving the cultural diversity of Chhattisgarh, especially in the tribal regions.
