Shaheed Veer Gundadhur –
Shaheed Veer Gundadhur led the ‘Bhumkal’ movement in 1910 against the British to save the land of the tribals. Earthquake movement Earthquake means vibration or earthquake in the land. Bhumkal was such a movement that shook the entire Bastar. There were many reasons behind this movement, among them forest policy, compulsory education, religion change, forced labor, bureaucracy etc. Such a subtle plan of the Bhumkal rebellion was prepared that the tribals fought the British army with bow and arrows and spears. This is the reason that today along with Chhattisgarh, the whole country has come to know about the bravery of Veer Gundadhur. The Government of Chhattisgarh has instituted the Gundadhur Samman in the memory of Veer Gundadhur for his outstanding performance in the field of adventure and sports.
