Raipur : Chief Minister Mr. Bhupesh Baghel pays tribute to Bharat Ratna and Ex-Prime Minister of India late Shri Rajiv Gandhi on his death anniversary on May 21

Raipur, 20 May 2021. Chief Minister Mr. Bhupesh Baghel has paid tribute to late Shri Rajiv Gandhi, Bharat Ratna and Ex-Prime Minister of India, on his death anniversary on May 21. Commemorating the contributions of late Shri Rajiv Gandhi in the development and rebuilding of the nation, Mr. Baghel said in his message to public that Rajiv Gandhi ji had taken charge as the youngest Prime Minister of the country. He envisioned the India of 21st century. With his modern and progressive outlook, he took India towards the information revolution. It is the result of his far-sighted vision that we now have e-governance system. With the information technology, he commenced the telecommunication network and computer revolution in India, and laid the foundation of today’s digital India. Rajiv ji empowered the panchyati raj institutions and urbad bodies, promoting the decentralization of democracy in the country. He had reduced the eligible age for voting from 21 years to 18 years.
Mr. Baghel further said that Rajiv ji had deep connection with Chhattisgarh. He had closely observed the tribal culture and tribal people here and had worked for their development. Tribal people of Kulhadighat in Gariaband district still cherish the memory of his visit in year 1985. Meanwhile he had also visited Dugli area of Dhamtari district, which is now knoen as Rajiv Gram. Mr. Baghel said that Chhattisgarh Government is following the footstep of Rajiv ji to work for the development of every section of society.
Last year on Late Shri Rajiv Gandhi’s death anniversary, Chhattisgarh Government had launched ‘Rajiv Gandhi Kisaan Nyay Yojana’, under which 19 lakh farmers of the state were provided Rs 5628 crore in four installments directly into their bank accounts. This year on May 21st, Chhattisgarh Government would give away the first installment of input subsidy for agriculture to farmers under this scheme. He added that Rajiv ji didn’t bow down to the terrorism. He sacrificed his life for the country. His death anniversary is observed as Anti-Terrorism Day on May 21.
