Chief Minister Shri Bhupesh Baghel while addressing the Panchayat functionaries associated with the program through video conferencing said that the three-tier Panchayati Raj was conceived by the late Shri Rajiv Gandhi. The Panchayati Raj system came into force during the tenure of Chief Minister Shri Digvijay Singh’s government in undivided Madhya Pradesh. In this, women are scheduled with reservation, Reservation was given to people belonging to caste, tribes and other backward classes. Apart from empowering the panchayats, arrangements were made to give them direct funds for development and public welfare works. The Chief Minister said that more than the reservation given to women under the three-tier Panchayati Raj system, more women have started choosing as panchayat officials and have started their participation in the development of villages. The Chief Minister specially congratulated the women officials for better participation in the Panchayati Raj system.
The Chief Minister Shri Bhupesh Baghel further said that we all have to work continuously for the betterment of the people, without stopping and without tiredness. He appreciated the contribution of the Panchayat office bearers and villagers in the prevention of Corona infection last year and said that with the awareness and participation of all of you, we have managed to prevent the first wave of Corona infection from reaching the village. This time the Corona transition has started happening in the villages as well, this is a challenge for us. He appealed to the panchayat officials to actively participate in the prevention of infection in the village with caution and vigilance. Chief Minister Mr. Bhupesh Baghel said that the state of Chhattisgarh stood first in the country in the implementation of MNREGA works last year. He said that this year also with the consent of the villagers, the work of MNREGA will be started. The Chief Minister said that with this, the needy will get work in the village and infrastructure will also be built. He said that in view of the anomalous situation of Corona infection, the Chhattisgarh government has decided to give rice in May and June free of cost to the ration card holders families, including the poor, Antyodaya, destitute and disabled people of the state. Allotment of rice has been provided to ration shops. He appealed to the Panchayat office bearers to participate in providing rice to the eligible families.
The Chief Minister further said that efforts are being made constantly by the State Government to make the Panchayati Raj system strong and successful, making the villagers aware and self-reliant. He said that all of us have to work continuously to pursue inclusive growth. He hoped that the Panchayats of the state would do better and in future also would make Chhattisgarh proud by getting more and more awards at the national level.
