Raipur, 17 January 2021. The Chief Minister, Mr. Bhupesh Baghel, attended the 75th session of the Palari Raj Chhattisgarh Manwa Kurmi Kshatriya Samaj organized in the village of Vatagan in Balodabazar district today. He inaugurated the conference by paying homage to the ancestors of the society.
Addressing the conference, Mr. Baghel has announced a sanction of Rs. 35 lakhs for the construction of the Government College in the village Vatgan and construction of community buildings of the Kurmi community. He also honored the talented students on behalf of the society. The conference was chaired by Dr. Ramkumar Sirmaur, Central President of Kurmi Samaj. On this occasion, Rajya Sabha MP Mrs. Chhaya Verma, Parliamentary Secretary Ms. Shakuntala Sahu, District Panchayat President Mr. Rakesh Verma, President of Chhattisgarh State Farmers Welfare Council Mr. Surendra Sharma and President of Chhattisgarh State Mineral Development Corporation Mr. Girish Dewangan, former MLA Mr. Janakaram Verma Special Was present as well.
Chief Minister Mr. Baghel told the Chief Guest at the conference that after the formation of new government in Chhattisgarh the amount of paddy purchase and the number of farmers is increasing continuously. Three years ago, where only 15 lakh farmers used to buy paddy, today 21.5 lakh farmers are selling paddy in societies. He said that our ancestors have created the state of Chhattisgarh only to provide justice to the farmers. Paddy, Maize, After sugarcane, the state government has now decided to buy Kodo-Kutki at the support price. Chief Minister Mr. Baghel said that despite the initial problem of gunny bags arising out of Corona crisis, paddy procurement is going on successfully. So far, 76 lakh metric tons of paddy has been purchased from farmers. Due to the local system of gunny bags and the cooperation of farmers, we have been able to purchase paddy smoothly. He said that we are increasing the scope of paddy purchase on support price day by day. While about 80 lakh metric tonnes of paddy was purchased in the initial year of the new government, it is estimated that about 89 lakh metric tonnes of paddy will be purchased this year.
The Chief Minister said that only with the permission of the Government of India, the state governments do the work of purchasing paddy. At present, only 24 lakh metric tonnes of rice have been allowed from the Central Government. While 60 lakh metric tonnes of rice is proposed to be taken. The Chief Minister said that after the vaccine, the final battle against corona disease has started. The public is expected to start getting vaccinated by the end of February. Nevertheless, it is necessary to keep following the announced measures to prevent this deadly disease. The Chief Minister said that the work of purchasing cow dung at Rs. 2 kg is being done only in Chhattisgarh. Dung is not purchased anywhere in the country and the world. People are reaching Chhattisgarh to understand the process, considering it a wonder.
The Chief Minister said that we are not only making Gauthan a collection of cow and bull but are also developing it as an important center of rural livelihood. Local women are preparing vermicompost as well as all the local necessities including incense, incense sticks. They are also earning extra income by growing greens and vegetables on the vacant land. People are getting so much income from cow dung that some people are buying things like shagat and rags and mangalsutra. Gouthans are proving to be a good medium to strengthen the rural economy.
