Chief Minister Mr. Bhupesh Baghel has written a letter to Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mr. Shivraj Singh Chouhan to provide 42 percent dearness relief to the pensioners of Chhattisgarh soon. In the letter, Madhya Pradesh’s consent has been sought for the payment of dearness relief under section 49(6) of the Madhya Pradesh Reorganization Act, 2000. In his letter, Chief Minister Mr. Baghel has asked the Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh to give appropriate instructions to the officials for consent in this regard so that action can be taken to give 42 percent dearness allowance to the pensioners of Chhattisgarh as soon as the consent is received.
The Chief Minister has written in his letter that the Finance Department of Chhattisgarh had written a letter to the Madhya Pradesh government on August 2 to provide dearness relief to the pensioners of Chhattisgarh.
It is notable that Chief Minister Mr. Bhupesh Baghel has decided to provide 42 percent dearness relief to retired government officials-employees from July 1, 2023. For the implementation of this decision, under Section 49(6) of the Madhya Pradesh Reorganization Act 2000, consent is necessary between the two states for the payment of dearness relief on pension. Further action can be taken on pension relief only after getting such consent.
It is worth mentioning that as soon as Madhya Pradesh’s consent is received, Chhattisgarh government will also take action to provide pensioner relief without delay.
It is worth mentioning that pensioners’ organizations are continuously demanding to increase the rate of dearness relief to 42 percent. It has taken this time to provide relief to the pensioners as the consent of the Madhya Pradesh government is not yet pending. After writing the letter of the Chief Minister, now fast action can be taken in this regard.
