Request for approval of proposed works of Rs 11024.39 crore for widening, upgrading, reconstruction of national highway
Raipur, 17 November 2020. Chief Minister Shri Bhupesh Baghel met Union Road Transport and Highways Minister Shri Nitin Gadkari during his stay in Nagpur today and requested to declare three new national highways in the state of Chhattisgarh. The Chief Minister reached Nagpur after his stay in New Delhi. He met Union Minister Shri Gadkari here and wished him a happy Diwali festival and discussed various issues related to road development in the state.
Chief Minister Mr. Baghel thanked Mr. Gadkari for the demarcation of Bhopalpatnam-Tarlaguda road in Chhattisgarh state, flyover at Tatibandh in Raipur city and upgrade of Patrapali Katghora road. During the meeting, the Chief Minister requested for approval for the proposed works of Rs 11024.39 crore for the widening, upgrading, reconstruction of national highways and theoretical national highways in Chhattisgarh.
Mr. Baghel informed the Union Minister regarding the land acquisition of Raipur-Durg bypass under the Bharatmala Yojana, that the amount of land acquisition is not being paid to the land owners by the Government of India, which is causing anger among the land owners. . He also urged these landowners to pay compensation at the earliest. The Chief Minister informed that the Champa-Korba-Katghora road is in a very poor condition. This national highway connects the industrial city of Korba. Soon construction work should be started by appointing a road construction agency. Apart from this, he also requested for the allocation of Rs 50 crore in the period 2020-21 at the Periodical Renewal, resuming the closed work of Raigad-Saraipali National Highway and speeding up the construction of Raipur to Dhamtari road.
Chief Minister Mr. Baghel urged the Union Transport Minister to declare three new national highways in the state of Chhattisgarh. These include Raigad – Gharghoda – Dharamjaygarh – Pathalgaon Marg, Ambikapur – Vadrafnagar – Bamhni – Renukoot – Banaras Marg and Pandaria – Bajag – Gadasarai Road. Mr. Baghel said that these routes pass through tribal dominated areas. Apart from this, these routes also connect the proposed routes under the Bharatmala Project. These routes have a density of traffic density. By declaring these routes as national highways, tribal-dominated areas of the state will develop rapidly.
Chief Minister Mr. Baghel also urged for approval for inclusion of five new roads identified for widening and upgrading in the year 2019-20 in the annual action plan for the year 2020-21. He said that these roads could not be approved in late March 2020 due to lockdown. Their re-approval is necessary. He said that these roads include construction of Mungeli to Pandaria road, Maddanmuda to Devbhog, Abhanpur to Pondmarg, Jhalmala-Balod-Sherpar road, ROB in Jayanagar. The total length of these roads is 148 kilometers and their total cost is Rs 1414 crore. DPR for these roads Central Road Transport and Highways have been sent.
