The delegation of Bastar Dussehra Committee Jagdalpur led by Bastar MP Mr. Deepak Baij paid a courtesy visit to Chief Minister Mr. Bhupesh Baghel at his residence office here. He invited the Chief Minister to participate in the world famous Bastar Dussehra festival in 2023. The Chief Minister thanked the delegation for inviting them to Bastar Dussehra and extended best wishes for the success of the event.
It is noteworthy that the 75-day world famous Bastar Dussehra festival is celebrated starting from Hareli Amavasya till the 13th day of Ashwin Shukla Paksha. Dussehra has a different identity in three parts of the country, apart from Mysore (Karnataka) and Kinnaur (Himachal Pradesh), Dussehra of Bastar in Chhattisgarh is unique in itself. Chariot festival Goncha festival and Dussehra are organized to symbolize the return of Chalukya king Purushottam Dev from Jagannath temple of Puri with the title of Rathapati.
At present, Dussehra is celebrated with reverence by the residents of Bastar in honor of Maa Danteshwari, the main deity of Bastar region. Bastar Dussehra is a symbol of the rich cultural heritage and social harmony here. In this festival, work is scheduled for every section of the society. Bastar Dussehra is celebrated every year with unique enthusiasm and excitement. Thousands of tourists from India and abroad come to Bastar every year to witness Bastar Dussehra.
