A discussion cum meeting of Dantewada District Administration and Police Department was held under the chairmanship of Governor Shri Deka.

‘The axis of development is centered on the participation, trust and awareness of the local community. Whether it is from the implementation of schemes on the ground to the initiative of innovation or issues related to security, gaining social trust should be the first priority and I am happy that the district and police administration are doing better work keeping these standards in mind’. Chhattisgarh State Governor Shri Ramen Deka expressed the above thoughts in the discussion cum meeting of the district administration and police department in the Dankani Sabha Room of Dantewada Joint District Office. He further said that to connect the backward community to the mainstream of development, it is necessary that they get direct benefits of education, health and employment related services, public welfare schemes. After establishing trust in the administration, positive change will automatically be reflected. 

Earlier in this discussion cum meeting, Collector Mr. Mayank Chaturvedi presented the details of the progress of the district in relation to the aspirational district. 

The efforts of the police administration are getting success in the elimination of Maoism. In this sequence, while giving information about the Maoist elimination campaign in the agenda, Bastar IG Mr. Sundar Raj P from the police administration said that special operations, area domination, de-mining, cordon and search operation, road search operation, SRP, ambush, road search operation, etc. are being carried out continuously to control the areas of influence of the Maoists with the forces available in the district, DRG, Bastar Fighters, CAF and CRPF forces. Along with the said action, the construction of roads, bridges, culverts and other development works is being done on priority basis for traffic by establishing coordination with the district administration in the Maoist-affected interior areas of the district. Every possible effort is being made to bring the Maoists back to the mainstream of the country by widely publicizing the rehabilitation work plan of the government, due to which the Naxalites are surrendering after being influenced by this. The district administration is benefiting the people through various welfare schemes. Apart from this, under the Lon Varratu (Come back home) campaign being run from 15 June 2020, the government’s Naxal rehabilitation policy is being widely publicized in every village through continuous contact and communication to integrate stray Maoists into the mainstream of society. Under its influence, stray Maoists including top Maoists have been continuously surrendering. Under the Lon Varratu campaign, so far a total of 889 Maoists, including 209 rewarded ones, have surrendered and joined the mainstream of society. 

It is noteworthy that at the beginning of the meeting, the Governor inspected the stalls of the Red Cross Society, sisters of self-help groups and farmers doing organic farming and interacted with them to get information about their activities and contribution. The purpose of this discussion was to understand the social and economic efforts being made by these organizations and individuals and to provide necessary support to make them more empowered. At the end of the discussion cum meeting, the Governor was presented a memento by the district and police administration. During this time, Bastar Commissioner Shri Doman Singh, DIG Shri Kamalochan Kashyap and other senior officers of the district administration were present in the meeting.
