Raipur: Chief Minister congratulated the people of the state on the occasion of the festival of Chherchera.

Raipur, 16 January 2022. Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel has congratulated the people of the state on the famous folk festival of Chhattisgarh, Chherchera. On this occasion, he has wished everyone happiness, prosperity and happiness. In his congratulatory message issued on the eve of Chherchera festival, Mr. Baghel has said that Chherchera Punni Tihar is celebrated on the full moon of Paush month in the joy of coming home of the new crop. Maa Shakambhari Jayanti is also celebrated on this day. According to mythological belief, Lord Shankar had asked for alms from Mother Annapurna on this day, so people donate greens, vegetables and fruits along with paddy.
The Chief Minister said that Chherchera Tihar, which is celebrated in the form of Mahadan and harvest festival, is the carrier of our glorious tradition of social harmony and rich charity. On this day children, youth and women of the village go to the barns and houses to collect the paddy and the money received as a gift and make programs for the whole year from the collected paddy and money. He said that many dimensions of generosity are visible in the farmers of Chhattisgarh. There has been a tradition of giving the crop produced here to the needy people of the society, workers and animals and birds. The second aspect of Chherchera is spiritual as well, it eliminates the discrimination of big and small and the feeling of arrogance. The Chief Minister said that the invaluable heritage and mythological traditions of the state can be promoted and transmitted. Therefore the Chhattisgarh government has also declared a public holiday on Chherchera Tihar. He has said that it is the responsibility of all of us to introduce the future generation to our rich civilization and traditions.
