Chief Minister Shri Bhupesh Baghel has extended hearty greetings and best wishes to the people of the state on the occasion of Teeja, the main Lok Tihar of Chhattisgarh. On this occasion, the Chief Minister has wished happiness and prosperity for all the people. Expressing his good wishes to all the Teejaharin mothers and sisters, Shri Baghel has said that Teeja festival has its own special significance in Chhattisgarh. Hartalika Teeja festival is celebrated with great enthusiasm by women. Mothers and sisters come to their parents’ house from their in-laws’ house to celebrate Teeja. Women observe Nirjala fast by taking Karubhat a day before Teeja festival for the long life of their husband. It is believed that by observing this fast, Shiva and Parvati bless married women with unbroken good fortune, while unmarried girls get the groom of their choice.
Mr. Baghel said that Chhattisgarh has a rich tradition of Teej and festivals. To preserve and promote the culture of Chhattisgarh, the state government has not only started public holidays in the state on the days of Hareli, Teeja, Bhakta Mata Karma Jayanti, Chhath Puja and World Tribal Day, but also to educate the coming generations about the importance of these folk festivals. It is being celebrated with full enthusiasm with public participation to connect the people.
