Raipur: Chief Minister congratulated the people of the state on Teeja festival

Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel has extended warm greetings and best wishes to the people of the state on the occasion of Teeja, the major folk festival of Chhattisgarh. He has expressed his best wishes to all Tejharin mothers and sisters. In his congratulatory message, Chief Minister Shri Baghel has said that there is a rich tradition of Teej festivals in Chhattisgarh. The state government has not only started public holidays on the days of Hareli, Teeja, Mata Karma Jayanti, Chhath Puja and World Tribal Day in order to preserve and promote the culture of Chhattisgarh, but also to convey the importance of these folk festivals to the coming generation. To connect them, they are being celebrated with full enthusiasm with public participation.
Chief Minister Shri Baghel has said that Teeja festival has its own special significance in Chhattisgarh. After celebrating Pola Tihar on the new moon day of Bhadon month in Chhattisgarh, Hartalika Teeja festival is celebrated with great enthusiasm, women come from their in-laws’ house to celebrate Teeja. For the long life of their husbands, women observe a Nirjala fast by taking karubhat a day before the Teeja festival. It is believed that by observing this fast, Shiva and Parvati bestow unbroken good fortune to married women, while unmarried girls get the desired groom. The Chief Minister has wished happiness and prosperity to all the people on this occasion.
