Raipur, 04 March 2022. The efforts made by Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel to promote sports in Chhattisgarh have got a big success. According to the instructions of the Chief Minister, on the proposal of the Sports and Youth Welfare Department of Chhattisgarh, the Sports Authority of India has approved the establishment of seven Khelo India Centers in Chhattisgarh under the Khelo India scheme. These seven centers will be opened in different districts for one game each. Two centers each for Archery and Hockey, one each for Volleyball, Malkhamb and Football have been approved by the Sports Authority of India. In these centers, Chhattisgarh players of respective sports will be selected and trained by national and international level coaches. The Sports Authority of India will also provide financial assistance for setting up these centres.
Expressing happiness over the approval of seven Khelo India Centers in Chhattisgarh, the Chief Minister said that the players of Chhattisgarh would get a good opportunity to enhance their sports talent. In the coming time, these players will bring laurels to the state and the country at the national and international level. He said that this has proved to be another meaningful step in realizing the vision of ‘Khelbo Jeetbo Gadbo Nava Chhattisgarh’.
On the instructions of Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel, the Sports Directorate had sent a proposal to start Khelo India Center for various sports, out of which Archery Center in Shivtarai Bilaspur, Archery Center in Bijapur, Hockey Center in Rajnandgaon, Hockey Center in Jashpur , Volleyball Center in Gariaband, Malkhamb Center in Narayanpur and Khelo India Center for football games in Surguja have been approved by the Sports Authority of India. The training of sports in the state of Chhattisgarh will now be strengthened. While starting all these Khelo India Centers, these centers will be continuously monitored by the Directorate of Sports.
Local senior players of each sport will be attached to the centre, they will also be given an honorarium for working as coaches. Equal representation of boys and girls players will also be ensured in all Khelo India Centers. These centers will be registered in the portal of Sports Authority of India.
This is the first time that a big opportunity has been created for the players of Chhattisgarh since the formation of the state. Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel visited Bijapur Academy and promised to start an archery center there. Similarly, seeing the interest and talent of local children in archery game in Shivtarai Bilaspur, the Chief Minister made it a sports academy at the state level. There was talk of getting the status, which has been realized.
Rajnandgaon and Jashpur are famous as hockey nurseries from the beginning, these cities have given many hockey players, now new generation has been given a new opportunity by giving them better training. Bastar region was neglected in sports till now, on the instructions of Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel, special efforts are being made for the development of sports in Bastar, the approval of Khelo India Center is an example of this. Seeing the special talents of Malkhamb in Narayanpur, the Chief Minister had announced to give him an academy, which has been completed today. A new opportunity has been created for the football players in Surguja and a gift has been given to the players. New opportunities are constantly being created for the players by the Sports and Youth Welfare Department. In the coming time, the players of the state will bring laurels to the state at the national and international level.
