Munichuan Ashram is the center of faith and belief of the villagers of Nawapara
Raipur, the 01st September, 2022
Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel today reached Nawapara village of Pusaur block of Raigad district in a meeting. On reaching here, the Chief Minister offered prayers at the Munichuan Ashram, the center of faith and belief of the people. It is believed that about 100 years ago in Nawapara, an old lady ‘old mother’ used to go to a pit on the roadside every day with a burning stick in her hand. In the hot summer, where the water of the nearby wells and reservoirs dried up, that pit was filled with water throughout the year. The ‘Old Mother’ used to worship Kali Maa with the fire of a cauldron and treat the epidemic like ‘smallpox’ with the divine water of that pit. The name of that pit was later named ‘Munichuan’. The old mother used to tell the people that ‘Many Siddha sages invisibly reside in Munichuan.
According to the old mother, the sage-muni residing in Munichuan sometimes appeared and fed people by arranging many sweets, dishes and hot food with his majesty, then they became invisible. This story can be heard even today from the mouths of the people around. The series of religious events continues throughout the year in the Munichuan complex. The religious faith and belief of the people towards Munichuan continues even today.
The ‘Garuda tree’ situated here has significance. It is believed that by circumambulating this religious tree seven times and offering 7 stones on it, the wishes of the people are fulfilled. The piles of stones near the Garuda tree are telling the story of the faith and belief of the people. The bark and leaves of the Garuda tree are said to cure many incurable diseases.
