Raipur, 23 September 2021. Chief Minister Shri Bhupesh Baghel attended the meeting held by the Minister of Power, New and Renewable Energy, Government of India, Shri Rajkumar Singh through video conferencing from his residence office here today. The Chief Minister discussed in detail with the Union Minister Mr. Singh regarding the implementation of the Revamped Distribution Sector Scheme in the state. Energy ministers of Bihar, Gujarat, West Bengal, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Goa and administrators of Daman and Diu also attended the meeting.
During the discussion, Chief Minister Mr. Baghel, while giving in-principle consent to the scheme, supported the demand for additional time limit for payment of electricity subsidy by other states. Under the Revamped Distribution Sector Scheme, along with increasing the power infrastructure in the state, action will be taken to modernize and strengthen them. In this scheme smart meters will be installed in all the consumers except agriculture consumers. The deadline for submission of detailed project reports under this scheme by the Central Government has been fixed as December 31, 2021. The estimated cost of this scheme is Rs 9600 crore, which is targeted to be completed by March 2025. On this occasion, Special Secretary, Energy Department Shri Ankit Anand was also present at the Chief Minister’s residence.
