Raipur, 2 October 2020. Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel today laid the foundation stone of Mahatma Gandhi Horticulture and Forestry University to be built at a cost of Rs 55 crores at Sankra-Patan in Durg district through video conferencing from his residence office on the occasion of Gandhi Jayanti on 02 October. In Patan-Sankra, Durg and Bhilai, Bhoomi Pujan was inaugurated and inaugurated 39 construction works costing Rs 253 crore 61 lakh. The establishment of Horticulture and Forestry University will give a boost to the education, research and related activities of horticulture and forestry in the state. New doors of employment and independence will open.

The Chief Minister said that the State Government is providing land to women self-help groups and connecting them with vegetables, fruit production and other income oriented activities. All these works will prove to be an important step for the development of Chhattisgarh. He said that the Bari Development Scheme from Jashpur to Bastar has been successful. Strong steps have been taken to provide better health facilities and against malnutrition. 13 and a half percent of children have become free from malnutrition in a year due to the campaign of nutrition. Out of five lakh malnourished children, 68,000 children have come out of malnutrition. In the field of cleanliness, Chhattisgarh has secured the first position in the entire country. The Chief Minister said that while GST has fallen by 24 percent in the entire country, Chhattisgarh has recorded a growth of 24 percent in GST in the month of September.
Shri Baghel further said that in the adverse circumstances of Corona period, following the path of self-reliance of Gandhiji in Chhattisgarh, small forest produce was collected, giving additional amount to farmers, providing money to people in the Godhan Nyaya Yojana, which resulted in GST has increased in Chhattisgarh. He said that fruit trees have been started in the forests this year. This will increase the income of the people of forest areas. About 44 percent of the land area in Chhattisgarh is forest. Forestry colleges will also be opened in the state under Mahatma Gandhi Horticulture and Forestry University. This will save our forests and increase people’s income.
The Chief Minister inaugurated 44 government housing buildings constructed at Patan block headquarters costing Rs 5 crore 22 lakh. Along with this, the high-level bridge across Uphra to Raveli road in Kharun river at a cost of Rs 8 crore 35 lakh and the high-level bridge being constructed at Khamharia Nala in Abhanpur-Tarrighat Patan road in Khamharia Nala at a cost of Rs 8 crore 17 lakh, costing about Rs 37 lakh. Bhumi Pujan of the new building of the co-operative bank of the co-operative bank was also done. Chief Minister Shri Baghel Solar Charkha Training Center was also inaugurated at village Selud in Patan development block.
Chief Minister Mr. Baghel inaugurated and performed bhoomi poojan of works worth Rs 138 crore 35 lakh in Durg city. Strengthening and beautification of the 8 km stretch from Nehru Chowk to Mini Mata Chowk at a cost of Rs 68 crore 16 lakh and performed a half-and-six km fourlane construction from Pulgaon Naka to Anjora at a cost of Rs 56 crore 39 lakh.
Chief Minister undertook shed construction work at Indira Market Sabzi Mandi in Durg city at a cost of Rs 66.50 lakh, garden construction at a cost of Rs 29.63 lakh at Potia and Rs 16.54 lakh in front of the filter plant located below the Shee Over Bridge. did. He also inaugurated the newly constructed training hall cum store room of Fisheries Department. On this occasion, Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel inaugurated the statue of Father of the Nation Mahatma Gandhi and inaugurated and performed bhumi poojan of 28 works of about Rs 37 crore in Municipal Corporation area Bhilai.
