Raipur, 22 January 2022. Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel has announced to extend the period of paddy procurement by one week keeping in view the convenience and interests of the farmers in the state. Paddy will now be procured in the state till February 7. Paddy was to be procured by January 31 this year, but due to untimely rains in the month of January, the situation of paddy procurement was affected. Due to which the Chief Minister has announced to extend the paddy procurement period by one week, so that all the registered farmers can easily sell their paddy. So far 82 lakh 62 thousand metric tonnes of paddy has been procured under the support price of paddy in the state, which is about 78.69 percent of the estimated target of procurement. So far 43 lakh 79 thousand metric tonnes of paddy has been lifted from procurement centers through DOs and TOs.
According to the information received from the Food Department, DO of 38 lakh 74 thousand metric tonnes of paddy has been issued for the lifting of paddy. About 33 lakh 21 thousand metric paddy has been lifted by the millers from the procurement centers. Similarly, till now 16 lakh 39 thousand metric tonnes of T.O. has been issued for transportation of paddy. has been issued, against which 10 lakh 58 thousand metric tonnes of paddy has been lifted from the committees. Thus out of 82.62 lakh metric tonnes of paddy procured so far, 43.79 percent paddy has been lifted.
